DESIGNER PROFILE JOVEEBA

WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO

After a stint studying Fashion and Textile Design in her hometown of Perth, Western Australia, designer, Alison Cotton threw it all in and on whim, informally launched Joveeba in 2003.

The first collection was a hit, making way for an instant following for the fresh and easy shapes that now make up the backbone of the brand - Joveeba was up and away.

2006 saw Joveeba hold the labels first solo show at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, in Sydney, formally introducing the brand to the greater fashion industry. From this moment Joveeba has been fast tracking their way onto the must-have lists of girls from coast to coast.

Inspiration comes from Cotton’s surrounds… listening to reggae music and The XX, talking to KT (her best friend), sitting in the sunlight, seeing reflections, humming along too Grace Woodroofe, trying to hold onto fleeting moments and day dreaming about what every girl needs in their wardrobe…

“ Our girl is imperfect, open and authentic “ says Cotton “ She is the girl I see on the street, she is KT, she is me … I like to give that girl a voice “

Joveeba’s spirit has not only intrigued the girl next door but has caught the eye of boutiques and media around the globe with the label showing up on the likes of Miranda Kerr, Kristin Cavallari, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Rumer Wills and in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar, Russh, Madison, Marie Claire, Frankie and Grazia Magazine.

You can find Joveeba in over 50 boutiques around Australia and dotted across the world from Dubai to LA with the label ever growing its presence on the international scene.

With Joveeba HQ now in beautiful Sydney, the label has become known for their ethos of spirited, laid-back cool.

Light-hearted reinterpretations of classic shapes and unique detailing, surprise and inspire Joveeba’s loyal fans season after season, and ultimately keep them coming back for more.

The Best & Worst of the Brownlows

On a night where fashion beats football we have composed our list of the best and worst dressed from this years Brownlow blue carpet. Lets just say finding the worst was a lot easier than the best as we watched the WAGS out do each other with faker tans and faker boobs. Elegance was few and far between, with the fashion mantra amongst the girls again this year appearing to be less is more!

9/10

It wasn't all bad with notable mentions going to this years Miss Universe Australia Jesinta Campbell. While most of the girls opted for neutral colours or black Miss Campbell made a bold statement in emerald green.

10/10

However the gown of the night goes to this fashion forward number. We love the asymmetric neckline complimented by simple accessories and minimal make up.

3/10

With the good comes the very very bad and Nathan Buckley's partner did this dress no favours. The white dress teamed with too much fake tan, cleavage and peroxide offers her a deserving place on the worst dressed list.

2/10

No surprises that topping the list for worst dressed again this year is Brynne Edelsten.Proving year after year that money can't buy taste, this walking fashion faux pa needs no explanation.

WORD FROM THE DESIGNER - Suzi Rose

Susanne Ambrose from Suzi Rose designs gives us her perspective on one of our favorite new Aussie labels.

"I envisage Suzi Rose designs as  a delicious mix of frills, bows, and lace, the designs are a treat to the eye and a treasure to own.

The latest collection “Childhood innocence is all about the love, laughter and innocence of being a child. The collection shows my love for all things vintage, bright, and of course girly. It branches out into one of my true loves - Sequins. It is a must have for every girls wardrobe. The range is fun, bright, loud and sexy with an abundance of frills, lace and sexy low backs. When girls put on a ‘Suzi Rose’ design they should feel sexy, loved, outrageous, modest, determined and motivated.

Keep your eyes open for our new summer range about to be released ‘Painting the roses red’. Expect to see long flowing maxi dresses, detailed back embellishments, high waisted skirts. Think pastel summer colours, blues, pinks, yellows.

Suzi Rose designs is all about setting free your inner romantic. Life should be about the love of all things..pearls…lace..frills..and sequins.."

Suzi Rose's latest collection 'Childhood Innocence' is available in Meillon & Bright today. Keep and eye out in store to see the summer collection 'Painting the roses red'.
